Information You Submit
Search Terms
When a visitor enters a name, location, or similar detail into a search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Cherokee County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the information in that message may be kept long enough to review and respond. It is not shared outside the organization unless a legal requirement applies.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may collect technical information when pages load. That information can include:
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site traffic and visitor behavior. A browser can usually block or delete cookies, although some features or measurements may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, responsive, and usable.
- To send search requests to the correct partner service.
- To understand which pages help visitors most.
- To diagnose broken pages, errors, and security issues.
- To support advertising that may be tailored to visitor interests.
Links and Outside Services
The site links to public offices, jail and court resources, state and federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor opens another site or service, that outside party's privacy policy and data practices control.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites or show interest-based ads. Those tracking practices occur through the partners' platforms, not through a public-record file maintained by this site.
When Information May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold as a standalone product. It may be available to limited parties when needed for site operations, advertising, legal compliance, or search functionality.
- Search partners that process lookup requests.
- Analytics providers that measure site use.
- Advertising networks that support site revenue.
- Law-enforcement or government authorities when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed against every mistake, intrusion, outage, or unauthorized access attempt.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a request may be made to review or delete it.
Your Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal information held by the site.
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate.
- Request deletion when retention is not legally required.
- Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that right.
